Morlock Pads

Morlock of Germany is our preferred supplier of Pad Printing Pads. Morlock Pad Printing pads come in hundreds of different sizes and shapes and although we access to an extensive range of Pads in stock we cannot justify holding the complete range in stock so we have provided a table of commonly stocked pad numbers..

A simple way of ordering Pads:

1. Shape and Size of Pad

Each Morlock Pad shape has been allocated a pad number catagory (see following list). All you do is choose the pad you require and take note of the Pad Number. When making your choice please take into account the height of the pad (depending on your machine and the application the pad is being selected for). Compare this against our table of commonly stocked pad numbers.

2. Pad Hardness

The Pad hardness is in relation to the product and is given in ShoreA. Pads are available in a range of hardness starting at 0 Shore A and through to Shore 24 A however the common range is from 0 to 10 Shore A with 2, 4 & 6 Shore A the most common.

3. Pad Quality.

Morlock have two types of pad available, the red pad and the yellow pad. We use the red type however the yellow type are available on special indent. There is little difference between the two types with the yellow type having slightly less mechanical resistance but is particularly suited to very fine profiles / lettering.

IMPORTANT ADVICE CONCERNING PAD MAINTENANCE.

As MORLOCK pads are made of high-grade raw materials, quality and reliability are guaranteed. The advantages of MORLOCK pads are as follows:

  • long service life even in continuous operation
  • high mechanical strength
  • high flexibility
  • resistant to aggressive inks

In order to obtain best printing results and to properly maintain your pads, the following rules should be observed:

  1. When not in use, pads must be clean and as free of dust as possible and stored on their base. When storing pads for longer periods it is recommended to rub the pads with MORLOCK protective oil.
  2. Before using a pad for the first time on a product it is recommended to print a few times on paper. This "activates“ the pad. Should the pad still not absorb enough ink from the cliché, rub it carefully with a cleaning cloth that has been soaked in thinner. Once again print on paper. A part from that instance, pads should not be wiped or rubbed with solvents as this may affect the life span of the material.
  3. Never rub a dry pad and never use your fingers or the palm of your hand. The so-called "eraser effect“ may cause irreparable damages to your pad. Use normal adhesive tape to remove any soiling on the pad.
  4. During lengthy periods of operation, it is advisable to exchange pads regularly. Under extreme stress it is possible that plastic deformation occurs. This however does not affect the pad. These deformations are reversible and will recede within 24 hours of rest. Store the pad as described in point 1.
